What’s the difference between CAL and SAL?

Briefly explain, the main difference is “SAL” is provided by a SPLA / hosted solution / managed service provider reseller, and you pay monthly for service through that reseller. CAL is another term for the same license but might be acquired in a retail package.

So, essentially CAL and SAL are the same thing, but CAL might be a license you own and SAL is a “subscription CAL”.
